Distribution Research (Vogue)

Distribution Research (Vogue Magazine):

Vogue distributes its magazine in a variety of ways, the first of which being through an app available on only apple devices. On the app, the news is tailored to your interests, and is recommended daily. Vogue magazine offers three apps, which all offer similar content but focus on different parts of the fashion world. These apps allow readers from around the world to consume material (This includes magazine articles and digital subscriptions) with ease.
Most Americans and people from around the world that closely follow Vogue and their magazine have cellphones or a piece of technology (such as a MacBook  or iPad).

The Vogue Magazine app focuses primarily on the magazine articles and issues, specifically issues from the United States branch of the magazine. The Vogue World app focuses on fashion inspiration worldwide but still features articles written by Vogue magazine employees. Lastly, the Vogue Runway app focuses solely on fashion shows, a topic that Vogue is very savvy in and is known for.

Another service that Vogue provides for its readers are digital versions of print magazines. This is different than a digital subscription, which is available on devices such as the Kindle and iPad. For those currently subscribed to the print version of Vogue, a digital version is readily available. This offer is available. This offer is available for many of their variations of the magazine, one example being Vogue Knitting.

From what I have stated above, I believe that the best option for digital distribution for my magazine would be both techniques that Vogue has used. To reach my younger demographic, it would be ideal to create and design an app that's has a cellphone user friendly interface. This would allow as many people as possible to enjoy and consume the material that my magazine creates (articles, photo galleries, model interviews, etc.). Conversely, I believe that offering a digital version of the print magazine available on devices such as Kindles and iPads will help connect with an older demographic that isn't quite fluent with the usage of technology. The Kindle and the iPad are easy devices to use, and keep the capabilities of the user in mind, which make them ideal for an older audience that want to read and access media in a paperless world.
